Software Engineering Internship (Backend)

About the role

Learn production backend engineering by shipping real API features under the guidance of senior engineers.

What you'll do

• Implement small API endpoints and database changes
• Write tests and fix bugs reported by QA
• Document endpoints and data models
• Take part in code reviews and team ceremonies

What we're looking for

• Fundamentals in any backend language (Node.js, PHP, Python, Java)
• Basic SQL and API knowledge
• Strong problem-solving mindset
• Available to work full-time onsite

Nice to have

• Open-source contributions
• Familiarity with Git branching
• Cloud basics

AI skills we value

• Comfortable pair-programming with AI coding agents (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot)
• Writing clear, well-scoped prompts and reviewing AI-generated output critically
• Using AI to accelerate testing: generating test cases, edge cases and test data
• Understanding the limits of AI output — verifying correctness, security and licensing before shipping
• Using AI assistants for API scaffolding, query optimisation and debugging
